Just enough excitement and fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fantastic Mr. Fox<\/a> by Roald Dahl. I love anything by him because he portrays adults the way kids really see them sometimes. First graders love this book and the 3 despicable farmers and the wonderful fox!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Catwings Series<\/a> by Ursula K Le Guin. There are four books in this series and you will have great discussions about this book! The stories are amazing and full of adventure! Beautifully written too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because of Winn Dixie<\/a> by Kate Di Camillo. I love this book and so did my own kids and my students. It\u2019s written beautifully and the story is so heartwarming and at times so sad. You will have many discussions about life with this book. I love all her books!! Nice movie to watch after you read together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Tale of Despereaux<\/a> by Kate Di Camillo. The audio book for this is so wonderful! The best voices ever! Also, the movie is sweet. Another book with a deep story, mixed with sadness and triumph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mercy Watson<\/a> series by Kate Di Camillo. A fun and joyful series with comical characters that kids fall in love with. My class actually wrote their own book because they loved the series and characters so much. Nice predictable fun! I think there are some spin off books from the characters as well: Tales from Deckawoo Drive<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Gold Cadillac <\/a>by Mildred D. Taylor. Powerful story<\/p>\n\n\n\n A Series of Unfortunate Events<\/a> by Lemony Snicket. My daughter loved this series.
